With the publication of my new book The Island of Lost Horses less than a month away now in the UK (it comes out in November in New Zealand), I am already working on the next book. I can’t tell you any details about it yet as it is still at super-secret phase, but I will say that I have just been on a research trip to Italy where I met this beautiful grey Anglo-Arab. I love the research phase of a new book. For this trip we stayed in a castle in Tuscany and I had a brilliant time meeting the local horses. The most exotic creature I met was a giant porcupine – which we narrowly avoided hitting with our car on the way home from dinner one night. It was the size of a labrador with flashing silvery quills – totally awesome!
